NORTH
BROTHER LOOK-OUT
With spectacular views, this mountain-lookout (seen in the distance)
offers barbecue and picnic areas and plenty of clean, fresh air! Named
by Captain Cook in 1770, drive 2 kms past Laurieton towards the Pacific
Highway to reach the mountain turn off.
ELLENBOROUGH FALLS
One of the highest single drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere, this amazing sight is not to be missed. Only one hour from
The Beach House, you will enjoy the drive through Kew and up to the Comboyne Plateau. Perhaps make the round trip returning through Wingham and Taree.
IF YOU HAVE AN 4WD VEHICLE VEHICLE
The area abounds with opportunities to exploit the features of your 4WD
unit.
Mountains behind Bonny Hills provide the
challenging courses for many international cross-country rally
championships.
Nearby Jolly Nose Lookout, which is
accessible only by 4WD, provides a magnificent panorama including
Queens
Lake, North Brother Mountain and, of course, the mighty
Pacific Ocean.
And then there's the long expanses of white
sandy beaches available only to 4WD's.

Queens Lake
WALKING
A 6 kilometre walking track from Bonny Hills accesses Bartlett's
Beach and Grant's Head via the sand dunes to North Haven

A variety of treks through the tall timbers
of the local hardwood forests behind Bonny Hills is available to serious
bush walkers.
Rainbow Beach in front of the Beach House,
offers a delightful 3 kilometre morning or evening stroll along flat,
hard sand to middle rock and for the super fit, goes a further 15
kilometres to Lighthouse Beach at Tacking Point.
LOCAL CRAFT MARKETS
Enjoy a walk through the local craft and food markets which are held
at different local venues each weekend.

FISHING
Many types of fish are available - beach, breakwater, estuary,
deep-sea, lake and river - and, if all else fails there is always the
nearby fishmarket at Laurieton Fishermen's Co-op where local trawlers
unload there daily catch.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Scenic lookouts, rainforests and many other natural attractions provide
wonderful opportunities for photographers to test their skills.
A favourite photographic opportunity which
may involve waking up very early (or staying up very late!) is to get a
dramatic, colour-drenched dawn shot of the sun rising out of the Pacific
Ocean.

PORT MACQUARIE
Only 20 minutes away, this historical commercial centre is a hub of activity - great shopping, river cruises, joy flights. For the children and the young-at-heart, see
Fantasy Glades
and Peppermint Park.
